July 9: ChargeCar with EVs and GASLAND

ChargeCar, which is helping to smooth the path toward electric cars here in Pittsburgh (working out how to convert conventional cars, and training local mechanics to do the same) is holding another community event and cookout!

From 7pm, come enjoy grilled fruits and vegetables and check out the electric vehicles from the Three Rivers Electric Vehicle Association on display at the Electric Garage -- also, members from the West Virginia University EVA education chapter will be bringing their Formula Lightning open-wheel race car.

At 8:30pm Mikhail Pappas, Pennsylvania State Senator Jim Ferlo's Policy and Projects Liason, will speak about the proposed moratorium on Marcellus Shale drilling in Pennsylvania.

At 9pm, we will be projecting the documentary film "Gasland" outside the garage, which will be followed by a short discussion. Please bring chairs and blankets for seating during the movie and feel free to invite your friends and family.

ChargeCar's Electric Garage is located at the former Exxon gas station on the 4600 block of Forbes Avenue in Oakland, between Craig Street and the bridge over to CMU. A map of the area can be found here.

Dates planned for future events are July 16th, 23rd, and 30th.
